Business growth tips for SMB from author Eric Gilboord

Let me explain. I had a request from Linda Lou the super-girlfriend to drop by a shop called Lush because I was going to be near there anyway. From the name of the shop alone you can tell I was hesitant. But when she told me to ask for Silky Underwear Dusting Powder I prepared for the worst.
Armed with a link to the product on my cell phone email (LL thinks of everything) I slowly walk into Lush. As I expected, a store filled with women, products with funny female inside joke names and a casual atmosphere. I approach the Lush staffer and whisper "I need silky underwear dusting powder." But rather than making me feel more uncomfortable, if that is even possible, she turns the whole experience around.

The first thing she says is "no problem it's right here." Then she says "this is so great that you came in here for your girlfriend." In fact she thinks that guys who do this for their significant others are heroes.

A few more compliments, a couple of samples including one for me, a catalog and I'm out the door. Feeling good and looking forward to my next trip to Lush. All I can think about is will Linda Lou want It's Raining Men shower gel, Dirty perfume or Leggy Gaga, whatever that is?

Lush is a chain of 650 stores in 40 countries that makes fresh handmade cosmetics. They have an interesting story and a great attitude. You can read all about them at www.lush.ca

Always make your customers want to come back. Great customer service, congratulations Lush.

And That's According 2 Eric
